take care of your ink.
After your appointment, your tattoo will be covered with Saniderm (Second Skin).
Follow these simple steps to care for your new tattoo:
Step 1: Keep the Saniderm bandage on for 2-4 days, and remove it slowly in the shower. Remember, you can shower with the bandage on.
Step 2: Use lukewarm water and non-scented antibacterial soap to wash your tattoo. Use only your hands, no scrubbers or washcloths, and clear the tattoo of all blood and plasma.
Step 3: Pat dry with a clean towel or paper towel, then air dry for 5-10 minutes.
Step 4: Apply a thin layer of coconut oil or unscented lotion. Avoid using petrolatum-based products.
Step 5: Clean your tattoo 2-4 times a day to ensure it stays hygienic and germ-free.
Here are Some Tips to Care for Your Tattoo:
If you notice any redness, irritation, or excessive fluid under the Saniderm bandage, remove it immediately. Proceed with steps 2 and 3 of aftercare.
Avoid exposing your tattoo to extreme sunlight for at least two weeks or until it's fully healed. After that, always use sunblock to protect your tattoo if you plan to spend extended periods outdoors.
Do not swim or submerge your tattoo in water until it's completely healed.
Limit your workouts to lighter exercises or take a break. Excessive sweating may slow down the healing process.
When possible, wear clothing that allows your tattoo to breathe.
Resist the temptation to pick or scratch your tattoo as this may damage the design and your skin.
Keep in mind that every tattoo has its own pace of healing.
